Law Around the World: Japan

Guardian ad Litem Training & Recertification
Friday, March 24, 2017, 9 a.m. to Noon

This all-day CLE program will be held for law clerks of the 16th Circuit Court of Jackson County.  It has been approved in Missouri (8.8 hours, including 2.0 Ethics) and Kansas (8.0 hours, including 2.0 Ethics).

Friday, June 9, Noon to 12:50 p.m. 

Deputy Commissioner Zhang (pronounced “Jung”) will be interviewed by Judge Mark A. Tips for “Appealing” Oral Arguments

Small & Solo 2016
Wednesday, June 15, 1:00 to 4:50 p.m.

Topics will include Landlord/Tenant Law, Collection Law, Attorney Marketing and Advertising, and Social Media for Attorneys.  A reception will follow from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Seating is limited to 35.  Cost for JCLL members: $60 for the entire program, or $30 for the first or second half.  The cost for non-members is $75 for the entire program, or $40 for the first or second half.  This event has been approved for CLE credit in Missouri (4.0 hours, including 2.0 Ethics) and Kansas (4.0 hours, including 1.0 Ethics and 1.0 Law Practice Management).  To register, please contact the library at info@jcll.org, or call (816) 221-2221.

The Veterans’ Treatment Court

In recent years, a number of courts have been created that are tailored to address the unique needs of veterans.  How did the Veterans’ Treatment Court in Kansas City develop, what are its goals, and what makes it successful?  Join us for an interesting lecture by Judge Ardie A.
